ROCCHIO, JOHN, 102, of Cottage Ave., passed away Monday, August 28, 2006 at St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield. He was married to the late Amelia (Antonelli) Rocchio for 83 years, and they were considered the longest living married couple known in the world. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Carmella (Scarduzio) Rocchio. He had lived in North Providence for 54 years.
John was a compositor for the Providence Journal for 25 years retiring in 1972. He also worked for E.A. Johnson Co. for 30 years. He was a member of the Typographical Union of Communication Workers of America Local 33.
He is survived by a daughter, Ella Sarra and her husband Frank; four grandchildren, Nancy Forte, Lori Petros, Ginger Hess, and Frank Sarra Jr. and seven great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Gloria Rocchio and brother of the late Catherine Pinossi, Anna Tarlian, Rose Vartanian, Emily Gelsomino, Albert, Bernardino, Michael, Louis, Anthony and Joseph Rocchio.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Garden City, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
