Alexander D. Pellegrino, 86, of North Providence, passed away Sunday, Novemebr 29, 2009 at RI Veterans Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Thooft) Pellegrino. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Domenic and Maria (Campanatico) Pellegrino.

Alexander had worked as a polisher for various local jewelry manufacturers. An Army Veteran of WWII, he was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4651 and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a communicant and served as an usher at Mary, Mother of Mankind Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Caroline M. Pellegrino; two step-daughters, Judy Fandetti and Claudia Robitaille; a sister, Millie Wassman; five grandchildren, two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was the step-father of the late Sharon Cantagallo and the brother of the late Gennaro Pellegrino.

His funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m., from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, Fourth St., North Providence. VISITATION Thursday 4-7 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or to D.A.V. of RI, One Capital Hill, Providence, RI 02908.
