Alfred H. Browning, 89, of Smithfield, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann (Zanni) Browning for 60 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Sonny and Florence (Lawson) Browning.
Al was the proud owner and operator of Parma Doors in Smithfield, a company that he ran with dedication and integrity for many years. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship and commitment to customer satisfaction, he built lasting relationships within his community. Outside of his professional life, Al had a deep passion for antique cars, spending countless hours restoring and collecting rare and classic vehicles. He also had a profound love for animals, and throughout his life, he rescued and cared for several Shar-Pei dogs, giving them a loving home.
Al's legacy will live on in the many lives he touched, through his work, his compassion for animals, and the timeless treasures he so carefully preserved. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his two children, Cheryl Browning and Scott Browning and his wife Denise; two siblings, Chester Browning and Diane Carley; and his four treasured grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Kayla and Elizabeth Browning.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
