Alfred “Fred” Damiano, 87, formerly of Providence, Rhode Island, entered into peaceful rest surrounded by his wife and children at his home in Lake Alfred, Florida, on Friday, February 19, 2016. He was the loving husband of Celia (Dorazio) Damiano. They were happily married for 55 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Camillo and Carmella (Tasca) Damiano.
Mr. Damiano was a welder for Damiano Brothers Welding, Providence, for 50 years before his retirement in 2001. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his five loving children, Alfred and his wife Judith, Ronald and his wife Michelle, Anthony and his wife Leslie, John and his wife Melissa, Debra and her husband Mark and a brother, Roy Damiano. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Eric, Brent, Livia, Brittany, Austin, Ashley, Claudia, Christina, Amanda, Jennifer, Alanna, and Amara, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Luigi, Michele, Americo, Filomena, Dante, and George Damiano.
His funeral will be held Monday, February 29th at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 4 Lafayette St., Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, February 28th from 2-5 p.m.
