Ann Marie Corona, 67, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her wife and family after a courageous battle against cancer.
Ann Marie was born on September 25, 1956 to the late Pasco and Lucy (Amicarelli) Corona in Providence, RI. Ann Marie was an outspoken, energetic, generous, kind and competitive child, who was always challenging her brothers and neighborhood friends to any game or sport she could convince them to play. Ann Marie was a graduate of Classical High School where she excelled in academics and sports. Her competitive drive and spirit on the field and in her Mount Pleasant neighborhood carried over into many aspects of her life, as she never liked to lose and was the most competitive person you’d ever meet.
After graduating from Classical, Ann Marie followed in her father’s footsteps and began a career with the United States Postal Service, where she enjoyed a 28 year career servicing her community. Ann Marie was loved universally by her USPS colleagues and the many households she delivered mail to over her 28 year career as a letter carrier.
In 2002 Ann Marie met her forever partner, Stacy, through a mutual friend. Their first date took place at Panera where Ann Marie drank five cups of coffee thinking it would calm her nerves. Stacy and Ann Marie’s bond from that moment was undeniable and they embarked on a wonderful and loving relationship that lasted twenty years. Stacy and Ann Marie married on June 7, 2014 and built a beautiful life together filled with love, laughter, travel and an unwavering devotion to one another.
After retiring from the USPS, Ann Marie continued to follow her passion in helping others any chance she could and attending her nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events. Ann Marie was the most loving, compassionate and caring individual you’d ever meet. She was always helping others and would be the first person to give you the shirt off her back. Ann Marie always put others before herself and found joy in seeing others happy.
Ann Marie loved her wife and family endlessly, but also loved her Pittsburgh Steelers equally and could often be found loudly cheering them on from her couch every Sunday.
Ann Marie is predeceased by her parents, Pasco and Lucy Corona, her grandmother Anna Antenucci, her brother Michael Corona, Sr., sister in law Ann Marie (Volpe) Corona, brother in-law Michael Russell, her father in-law Robert Isabella, Sr. and brother in-law Robert Isabella, Jr. Besides her wife of 10 years, she leaves two brothers, Donald Corona and his wife Maria and David Corona; two sisters Loreen Corona-Russell and Michele Cappalli and her husband Thomas Cappalli, Sr.; mother in-law Anna (DiLorenzo) Isabella and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would also like to thank the Miriam Emergency Room, Rhode Island Hospital Neuro NCCU and Rhode Island Hospital Oncology/Hematology staff, devoted nurses and doctors for their patience and compassion while caring for Ann Marie during her battle with cancer.
