Anthony E. Spaziano, SGT. NPPD, Retired, 62, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Roger Williams Medical Center. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Ernest Spaziano, Sr. and Anna (DeAngelis) DeLuca.
Anthony loved his work as a police officer and was extremely dedicated to the North Providence Police Department. He received numerous commendations and was the recipient of the J. Edgar Hoover Award for Meritorious Service and Heroism above and beyond the call of duty. He dearly loved his nieces and nephews and was an avid Yankee fan and golfer.
He leaves four brothers, Col. Ernest C. Spaziano, retired NPPD, David Ziroli, Ernest Spaziano, Jr. and William Spaziano; a sister, Ann Meneghini and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m., from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. VISITATION Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
