ANTHONY IOZZI,SR., 87, of North Providence, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Francesca (Calise) Iozzi. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Maria (Paglia) Iozzi. He had lived in North Providence since 1954.
Anthony worked as a custodian at Whelan School in North Providence for 20 years and had also volunteered as a teachers aid at the school. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was involved with the liberation of the Philippines. He was a member of the Laborer’s Union, Local 271 and was an avid Yankee fan.
He leaves two sons, Anthony Iozzi, Jr. and Steven Iozzi; a daughter, Cynthia Grossi; a brother, Vincent Iozzi; six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Frank, Angelo, Michael and Thomas Iozzi.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 8am, from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Anthony Church, Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. VISITATION Wednesday 5-8pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
