Anthony L. Zambarano, 80, of Smithfield, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Mariette ( Pelletier) Zambarano. Born in North Providence, He was the son of the late Antonio L. and Elizabeth (DiMuccio) Zambarano.
Mr. Zambarano was an educator and administrator at the University of Rhode Island, College of Continuing Education, in Providence. Previously he was Dean of the Johnson & Wales Business School and a history teacher at North Providence High School. He was Chairman of the Commission that established the Town of North Providence Charter and also served in the United States Army during WWII.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves two sons, Robert A. Zambarano and Stephen A. Zambarano; two daughters, Maria J. Zambarano and Nancy B. Zambarano; eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was the father of the late Mark E. Zambarano and the brother of the late Anne Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 11am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd., Johnston. VISITATION at the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, Wednesday 5-8pm.
