Anthony "Tony" Braga

November 21, 1944 — March 17, 2016

Anthony "Tony" M. Braga, 71, of North Providence, passed away peacefully into Eternal Life on Thursday, March 17, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Mary T. (McGeehin) Braga. They were happily married for 48 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Ernest and Rose (Ruggierio) Braga.

Tony retired after 32 years of state service from D.O.T. Special Programs as Program Analyst. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bryant College. While attending Johnson and Wales College for his associate’s degree he was a member of Phi Delta Fraternity where he formed lifelong friendships. He enjoyed playing cards with his fraternity brothers and Friday night cards as a member of the Ceilidhe Club of RI. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 40 years.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Kevin P. Braga and his wife Ann of Boston MA. and Colleen M. Caron and her husband Christian of Hope, RI. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Noah, Joshua and Benjamin Caron and Alex and Austin Braga.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 9am from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Ave., Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s memory to Blessed Sacrament School, 240 Regent Avenue, Providence, RI 02908 or American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
