Anthony Tudino, a retired Detective Sergeant for the North Providence Police Department died peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025 with his son Anthony by his side. He was the husband of the late Norma (Martin) Tudino. They were married for 65 years.Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Michael Tudino and Theresa (Bianco) Tudino. He moved to North Providence in 1960.

He leaves two daughters, Noreen Berthiaume of Chepachet, Norma Jean Tudino of North Providence, and his son Anthony E. Tudino and his wife Denise, of Rehoboth, MA. He also leaves four grandchildren, Michelle Capuano of Cranston, Emilie Desrochers Watson of FL, Tara Tudino of Cranston, and Matthew Collins of North Providence; and three great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Jaden, and Kylie. He was the brother of the late Lucien Tudino, John Tudino, Edward Tudino, Henry Tudino, Michael Tudino, and Vincent Tudino.

He joined the North Providence Police Department in 1964. He was appointed to the Detective Division and promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant in 1972. . He enjoyed investigating crime and keeping his town safe. He served in the National Guard and the Army. He also served time as a Merchant Seaman. He received 23 Commendations and Citations, which included the Town of North Providence, the Attorney Generals Department, Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police, the State Fire Marshalls office, Pawtucket and Coventry Police Departments. He also received two citations from the Lieutenant Governor. He also received a citation from the Senate for Meritorious service. In addition he received a citation from the House of Representatives for distinguished and dedicated service. He was also presented a Proclamation from former Providence Mayor Vincent Cianci, Proclaiming June 18, 1979 Anthony Tudino Appreciation Day in Providence. He also received a resolution from the late Mayor Salvator Mancini and the North Providence Town Council. During his time as a police officer he was credited with the apprehension of three armed criminals who were in the process of holding up the former Pawtucket Institute for Savings and Trust Bank on Smithfield Road. All three were wanted in New York and New Jersey for bank robbery and shooting and wounding a police officer in Buffalo, NY. On another case, eight inmates escaped from the Criminally Insane ward at the A.C.I. and all were considered dangerous. One of his informants called him and told him their whereabouts. They were then apprehended at gunpoint. Sgt Tudino was one of thirteen Law Enforcement officers in R.I. to be nominated Police Officer of the Year in 1968 and again in 1969. In 1977, he was one of seven police officers to be nominated for the Second Annual Attorney Generals Enforcement Award for his work in Major Investigation including murders, several armed robberies, assaults, and narcotics investigations. After a long decorated career on the Police Force, he enjoyed his retirement and lived a long happy life with family and his best friend ‘’Max the Pitbull’’.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 8:30 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
