Anthony V. Simonetti, 76, of Cranston, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Miriam Hospital in Providence from complications of surgery. He was the husband of Rita (Albanese) Simonetti with whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on August 29th. Born in Providence, July 30, 1933, a son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Carbone) Simonetti, he resided in Cranston since 1959.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Dr. Anthony J. Simonetti and his wife Ansu Cai of Aventura, Florida, David P. Simonetti, Esq. and his wife Pamela Champine, Esq. of New York, NY, John A. Simonetti, AIA of Cranston, Kirk R. Simonetti of Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY and Bruce E. Simonetti, Esq. and his wife Paula (Androw) Simonetti of Short Hills, NJ and two cherished grandchildren, Isabella Simonetti and Nicholas Simonetti. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Keegan of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Anthony graduated from Classical High School, Class of 1951 and The University of Rhode Island, Class of 1955, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration in 1965. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, was elected to the Student Senate and was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. He is also an alumnus of Bentley College of Accounting and Finance, Class of 1960 and had attended graduate classes at both Boston University and Harvard University. Because of his interest in education, he became active with Committees for Better Schools and later became an adjunct faculty member at Roger Williams College, Johnson & Wales University and the University of Rhode Island Extension Division.

Anthony was an executive officer of the Ideal Jewelry Mfg. Co., a producer of quality jewelry sold nationwide, from 1959 to 1989. He served on the Governor’s Commission for the Jewelry Industry and was a member of the Manufacturing Jewelers and Silversmiths of America. He was also a member of the University Club. He has been a Financial Consultant with investment firms and had been associated with Janney Montgomery Scott until the time of his sudden death.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 1493 Cranston St., Cranston. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Entombment in the family Mausoleum at St. Ann Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, 224 Benefit Street, Providence, RI 02903, Attention: Development.
