Antonia “Toni” Morrison (Marzilli), 85, of North Providence, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Grand Islander Center in Middletown. She was the former wife of the late James Morrison. Born in Colefelice, Frosinone, Italy, the daughter of the late Amato and Annamaria (Colantonio) Marzilli, she came to America at the age of three, initially living in Providence before moving to North Providence where she resided until 2005.

Throughout her life, Toni was involved in many Parent Teachers organizations and church groups. She loved politics and was present at numerous N. Providence Town Council and School Committee meetings. She was never reticent about voicing her opinion on town budget matters. In 1984, she worked tirelessly, collecting numerous signatures for the successful election of a N. Providence Town Charter Commission.

She leaves her beloved children, James R. Morrison and his wife Susan of Narragansett and Donna T. Patterson and her husband Michael of Jamestown; a twin sister, Amelia DeMarco, and her grandson, Andrew Patterson. She was the sister of the late Maria Santoro, Ida Palmisciano, Lena Medeiros and Rocco and Angelo Marzilli.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10am from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Visitation Wednesday
5-8pm. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Lighthouse Foundation, 6946 Post Rd., Suite 500, North Kingstown, RI 02852.
