Antonio "Tony" L'Europa, 89, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Maria (DiNitto) L'Europa for 65 years.
Born in Sora, Frosinone, Italy, Antonio was the son of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Uriati) L'Europa. He was a skilled cabinet maker with Monarch Manufacturing and a proud member of the Carpenters Union Local 94 and the San Biaggio Society. Antonio's early years were marked by his talent as a soccer player, and he later developed a deep passion for following the sport. He also cherished Italian music and dancing.
Antonio used his remarkable woodworking skills to create toys and cherished memories for his grandchildren. His devotion to Saint Rocco, his Patron Saint, was a testament to his faith and character.
In addition to his beloved wife Maria, Antonio is survived by his children, Dr. Robert L'Europa and his wife Janet, and Joanne Marsella and her husband Joseph; his brother Gerardo L'Europa; his sister Lucia Robitialle; and his five cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Justin, and Ava L'Europa, and Anthony and Sara Marsella. He was also predeceased by his brothers Rocco and Loreto L'Europa.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. from Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Ave., Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
