ANTONIO “ANTHONY” SERRECCHIA, 86, of Smithfield, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007 at Home. He was the husband of Dorothy (Ricci) Serrecchia. Born in Santa Appolinari, Italy, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Pannicione) Serrecchia.
Anthony was a laborer with the Laborers International Union, Local 271. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and participated in the invasion of Normandy and served in Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Raymond A. Serrecchia of Exeter; two daughters, Maria Wood of North Providence and Sandra Bellini of Smithfield; three sisters, Evelyn Maggiacomo, Ida Campagnone and Anna Souza; four grandchildren, Douglas Wood, Antonio Bellini, Denise Wood and Myléne Serrecchia and three great grandchildren, Tyler Wood, Antonina Bellini and Antonella Bellini. He was the brother of the late Angie Corsi and Laura Poccia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 11am in Holy Ghost Church, Knight St., Providence. Visiting hours and flowers respectfully omitted. Burial with Military Honors will be private.
