BENJAMIN S. PINO, 86, of Seekonk, Mass. formerly of East Providence, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy H. (Johnson) Pino. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Perruto) Pino.
He had worked as Chief Master Mechanic for the former Bird and Son Paper Mill in East Providence for over 30 years. He had previously worked for the Navy during WWII at Quonset Navy Base and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the National Association of Power Engineers and the Gloria Dei Senior Lunch Bunch.
Benjamin was a loving husband and father and a devoted grandfather. Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by a son, Michael Bruce Pino and his wife Robin; a daughter Lauren A. Clegg and her husband Peter; two brothers, Joseph E. Pino and Roy Pino; a sister, Elaine Cristi and three grandchildren, Benjamin Pino, Ethan Pino and Waylin Clegg. He was the brother of the late Matthew Pino, Frank Pino, Mary Nassa and Evelyn Giorgi.
The funeral will be held Friday at 8:45am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence with a Funeral Service at 10am in North Scituate Baptist Church, 619 West Greenville Rd., VISITATION Thursday, 5-8pm. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to R.I. Hospital Cardiac Care Unit, Box H, Providence, RI 02901.
