We lovingly remember Carolyn “Cookie” Lonardo, a source of joy and love, who peacefully passed away on November 2, 2023, in North Providence, surrounded by her family. At the age of 80, she left behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. In her passing, she rejoins her beloved late husband, Robert Lonardo, in the realm of cherished memories.
Born in Providence to Stanley J. and Sophie (Macek) Maksymowicz, Cookie’s kindness and spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Robert Scott Lonardo, her daughter, Robin Anne Berube, and her son-in-law, Scott Berube. She found immense joy in her two grandchildren, Tristan and Jaden Berube. Cookie shared her journey with her sisters, Joanne Tortolano and Dorothy Russo, and held the memory of her late brother, Jan Maksymowicz, close to her heart.
Cookie’s presence in our lives was a true blessing. Her exceptional love for family, her ability to bring laughter to any occasion, and her talent for making friends wherever she went were her hallmarks.
Cookie was an enthusiastic fan of Engelbert Humperdinck, finding joy in his music and sharing that joy with her friends and family.
We hold dear the countless memories we created with Cookie, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation to celebrate Cookie’s life will be held on Thursday morning, November 9, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, at 10:00 a.m. Her final resting place will remain private. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations in Carolyn’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman St. #306, Providence, RI 02906, to honor her memory and support those in need.
