Chester A. Leone

CHESTER A. LEONE, 79, of Johnston, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at home. He was the beloved husband of Martha (Chesney) Leone for 27 years. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Marco and Angela (Giorgi) Leone.
Mr. Leone was a member of the Teamsters Local 251 and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was past treasurer and a 30 year member of the Maria S.S. Della DiFesa Society.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Desmond Leone, Denise Hammerschmidt and her husband Stephen, Christine Long and her husband David, Peter Vachon and his wife Elizabeth, Susan Marino and her husband Paul and Jodie Hassell; and eleven grandchildren. He was the father of the late Claudia Leone and the brother of the late Densmore Leone and Marco Leone. He was also the husband of the late Muriel (Ruotolo) Leone.
His funeral will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Ave., Providence. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITATION THURSDAY 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Leone’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation Serving New England, 85 Astor Avenue Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
