Daniel J. Carchia, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Heritage Hills Nursing Centre. He was the beloved husband for 71 years of the late Mollie (Bove) Carchia. Born in Johnston, he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (DiMichael) Carchia.
Mr. Carchia was a master diesel mechanic. He was an Army Veteran serving during WWII in the 3071st as a quarter-master in France, England, Germany, Philippines and Japan. He was also an accomplished pilot; he enjoyed flying single and multi-engine aircraft.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Joanne DiSanto, Cheryl Champagne and her husband Richard and Linda Manning and her husband Paul and brothers, John and Emilio Carchia. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Michele D’Ordine, Gina DiSanto, Tracy Duhamel, Robert Croce, Stephanie DiSanto and Dennis DiSanto; and eight great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late, Rose DeAngelis, Columbia Ciccone, Michael, Anthony and Joseph Carchia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 10am at Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
