Dolores C. Aiken, 95, of Providence, died peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022. A 1944 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and the University of Rhode Island Class of 1983, she was the wife of the late James M. Aiken. Born in Providence, she was the eldest child of the late Carlo Ciasullo, Jr. and Blanche (Heon) Ciasullo.
A life-long volunteer, she served on the boards of directors of the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island, The American Red Cross, RI Affiliate and Volunteers in Action. She was a Red Cross instructor in First Aid for lay persons and first responders for many years.
She is survived by her children, Michele DiTraglia (Vincenzo), Richard H. Aiken (Ida) and Denise C. Aiken, Esq.; her sister, Celeste V. Pettis; a brother, Paul F. Ciasullo (Evelyn), four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Elise Anne Aiken, and the sister of the late Carlo Ciasullo III.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 9 AM from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton St., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores' memory may be made to the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England, 500 Greenwich Ave, Warwick, RI 02886.
