Domenic A. Merolla

Domenic A."Tom" Merolla, 81, of Mills Dr., Johnston, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Evelyn R (Pezzi) Merolla. They were married for nearly 59 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Erminia (Marino) Merolla.

A Johnston resident his entire life, Tom worked 30 years for the John Hancock Life Insurance Co. After retirement, he worked part-time at K&K Casting Co. and Narragansett Business Forms. An Avid Golfer, he was for many years a member of the Alpine Country Club. He was an usher at St. Robert Bellarmine Church. A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he served in Italy in 1945.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joan M. Rallis of Smithfield and two sons, Thomas J. Merolla of Providence and Stephen J. Merolla of Johnston. He was the grandfather of Kevin Rosato, Kellie Brooks, Jennifer Tardibuono, Thomas Merolla and Christopher Merolla and had four great grandchildren. He was the brother of Americo “Zeke” Merolla of Johnston and the late Augustino “Gus” Merolla of AZ.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Pantry, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.
