Donato Corsetti, 84, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully at home Friday, April 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria (Roncone) Corsetti. Born in Arce, Italy, he was the son of the late Eleuterio and Louisa (Corsetti) Corsetti.
Donato came to the United States in 1954. He became a US citizen and enlisted in the Army where he served his country with great honor and pride. He then transitioned into the Rhode Island Army National Guard where he remained for 24 years until retiring in 1997.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Francesca Johannis and her husband Peter, Stephanie Corsetti-Moran and her husband Kevin Moran, and David Corsetti and his wife Donna, and five grandsons, Kyle Johannis, Davide Corsetti, Luca Johannis, Nico Corsetti and Massimo Corsetti. He was the brother of the late Giuseppe Corsetti, Virginia DeSantis, Maria Fraioli, Giuseppina Corsetti, Bernardo Corsetti, Michele Corsetti and Rocco Corsetti.
His funeral will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., Providence. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donato's memory may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
