Dorothy “Dotty” DiStaolo, 89, of North Providence, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Nicholas C. DiStaolo. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Donato and Filomena (Grimaldi) Marcoccio.
Dotty served as the Deputy Town clerk for the Town of North Providence, retiring in 1997.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Palmisciano and her husband Vincent, and Debra Hegarty and her husband Patrick; her sons, Nicholas C. DiStaolo and Lt Col (RET) Robert A. DiStaolo; a sister, Josephine “Gigi” Elgar, and eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Yolanda Cardarelli, Mario Marcoccio, Carmino Marcoccio and Louise Iasimone.
Dotty enjoyed spending time with her family, sister, and her many friends. She loved playing hi-lo jack at both the Johnston and North Providence Senior Centers. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, and most of all she loved being a mom and a grandma.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11 am in Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave, Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dotty’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
