Dorothy C. McDermott

December 25, 1938 — August 5, 2023

Dorothy C. McDermott (Guglielmi), 84, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.  She was the wife of the late Thomas McDermott, Jr.  Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Virginia (Lombardi) Guglielmi.

Dorothy worked for DePasquale Pharmacy and Shaw’s Market for many years before retiring. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and her yearly trips to Walt Disney World with her daughters.   She also enjoyed going to the casino and attending plays at PPAC with her best friend Madeline.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by her three children, Patricia Boyle and her husband Timothy, Susan Sheldon and her husband William and Thomas McDermott III; a brother, Anthony Guglielmi; a sister, Virginia Ciccone; and her two grandsons, Shaun and Peter Boyle.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 4 – 7 p.m. Interment in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman St. Suite 306, Providence, RI  02906 or Beacon Hospice, One Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI  02914.
