Eleanor E. (DelVicario) Pelletier, 82, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Pelletier, Jr and was the former wife of the late Raymond J. Ceraldi. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Edith (Izzo) DelVicario.
Eleanor was a secretary in the Art and Art History Department of Providence College for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Sons of Italy and enjoyed their group excursions, which included visiting various churches to recite the rosary, attending dinner parties, and watching Ed perform in their very own murder mystery dinner show.
Eleanor and Ed cherished 25 summers at their beach house on Great Island, where they welcomed friends and family. Eleanor took particular pleasure in preparing homemade chowder and clam cakes for their annual "Lobster Fest" on Labor Day weekend. They spent numerous winters in Deerfield Beach, Florida, enjoying scenic drives down A1A, meeting up with their Rhode Island friends and going for dinner.
Known for her kind and humorous nature, along with a generous heart, Eleanor loved spending time with her granddaughter Ava. Together with Papa Ed, they sang songs like "Mambo Italiano," "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," and their special tune "You Are My Sunshine" when picking her up from school. Over time, those cherished car rides evolved into shopping and lunch outings in Garden City.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Ceraldi) Arsenault and Nicole (Ceraldi) Colannino; stepchildren, Denise (David) DiSaia, Edward F. Pelletier III, Paul (Michelle) Pelletier and Bonnie Donahue; a brother, Robert (Barbara) Delvicario; and her granddaughter, Ava Rose Colannino, who was the sunshine of her life. She was Nonnie to David, Darcie, Rachelle, Kayla, Madison, Ashleigh, Samantha and Emma. She was the great-grandmother of Alice, Sidney, Tony, Milo, Lucy, Anthony, Sophia and Theo. She was the sister of the late Marie DelVicario.
Visitation will be held on Saturday Morning, September 7, 2024 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. with a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence.
