Elvira "Vera" Tutay, 94, of Johnston, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Tutay. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (DeVito) Spicola.
Vera worked for Coro Jewelry for 39 years as a private secretary until their closing in 1979. She also worked for Providence Life Insurance Company and CVS Corporation for many years before retiring. She enjoyed dancing and making needlepoint tissue box covers for family and friends.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frank Spicola, Ella D'Ambra, Anne DiMonte and Marie Spicola.
Visitation will be held Monday Morning, August 26, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Interment will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Shelf, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.
