Gail Carello

October 25, 1938 — February 11, 2025

Gail (DiSanto) Carello, 86, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the beloved wife of Anthony (Tony) Carello for 65 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Augustino “Christy” and Mary (Piedolati) DiSanto.

She was the loving mother of three children, Cindy Iascone and her husband David, of Johnston, R.I., Pamela DeBolt and her husband Don, of Seekonk, MA, and Greg Carello and his wife Kelly (Pesaturo), of Smithfield, R.I.; cherished grandmother of Taylor Iascone, David Michael Iascone, Morgan Smith (Richard), Michael DeBolt, Matthew Carello and Mackenzie Carello; great-grandmother to Rory Rose Smith. She was the sister of Chris DiSanto and the late Joan Mollicone-Lewis.

Gail is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She worked at the State of Rhode Island’s Department of Agriculture, Audubon Society, and The Claflin Company, where she had the pleasure of working alongside her daughter Cindy. She was a devout Catholic and longtime communicant of St. Thomas Parish in Providence. Gail found comfort in her faith, especially in the rosary, drawing strength from the Blessed Mother. She carried her faith with quiet grace, doing everything with love, compassion, and kindness.

Gail dedicated her life to raising her children, her greatest joy, and spending time with her beloved husband “Teece” and extended family. Her quick wit and fun spirit brought laughter and love to cherished holidays and family gatherings. She found great comfort living alongside her parents and brother, and sister and her family on the same secluded street for most of her life. Her mom Mary was her best friend and confidant and only fitting that Gail passed away on the same calendar date as her mom, on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, patron Saint of the Sick. She loved attending church, baking, shopping, and traveling to her grandchildren’s games and events.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the 3rd floor nursing staff at Cherry Hill Manor Nursing Home and to Gentiva Hospice.

Gail’s funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St.  St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. The burial will be private.
