Gary R. Howarth

October 31, 1966 — March 25, 2024

Gary Reed Howarth, 57, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024 in Providence RI. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne M. (Stanzione) Howarth, and father to Haley L. Howarth. Gary was the youngest child of the late Robert E. Howarth Jr. (Ret. P.P.D.), and the late Virginia B. (Fontaine) Howarth.

Gary grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from St. Raphael Academy. While in high school he met the love of his life Jeanne M. Stanzione. They became inseparable, later married and had their daughter Haley Howarth.

Gary worked as a self taught and certified master HVAC-R technician, from when he was 15 years of age until retirement. He often took pride in his abilities to teach himself how to build, fix, or create anything imaginable. He enjoyed sharing his passion with everyone, always taking the time to teach and help a friend or family member in need.

Gary was passionate about music. He was an incredible self taught drummer and anyone who heard him play was amazed by his talent. He built and played on his prized 360° drum set, inspired by his favorite drummer Neil Peart. Gary was an avid Patriots fan, a pastime he shared with his mother, the late Virginia Howarth. He loved his '72 Pontiac Grand Prix, and has kept his beloved car up and running since he first got it at 18 years old. Gary enjoyed fishing and being outdoors, often boasting of how much he enjoyed taking early morning rides in his Grand Prix to watch the sunrise. Gary was larger than life, a one man comedy show, and if you were lucky enough to be in his presence you were undoubtedly laughing yourself to tears.

Most of all, Gary was devoted to his family, he would always refer to his loved ones as "MY Haley, MY Jeanne, MY Ryan! etc…". He doted on his daughter Haley and boasted about how special she is. Gary was always proud and often said how his daughter Haley looked like him, and was just like himself in every amazing way. He was an incredible husband and father, who wore his heart on his sleeve and would do anything for his wife and daughter. Gary cherished his nieces and nephews, to whom he will always hold the title "coolest Uncle EVER!". He was a fierce protector and loved unconditionally. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne M. Howarth; their daughter Haley Howarth; his two sisters, Lorraine Tompson, brother in-law Lawrence Tompson, Lynn Matson, and (the late) Andrew Matson. His many nieces and nephews, ( the late) Ryan Howarth, Sonja Matson, Tommy Tompson, Heather Matson, Eric Tompson, and many other great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Howarth.
