George H. Fitzsimmons, 93, of Warwick, passed away Friday March 9, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Petreccia) Fitzsimmons. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Campbell) Fitzsimmons.
George served his country as an Army veteran of WWII. He was employed by Uniroyal and Providence Water Supply Board. He was an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles, playing poker and Wii Bowling with his friends at Greenwich Farms assisted living facility where he was a resident. He is survived by his devoted children and their spouses, Joseph (Stella) Fitzsimmons of Narragansett, John (Lori) Fitzsimmons of Cranston, and Mary (Bill) Maloney of Providence, and a son-in-law, David Rose of Cranston; ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Francis Fitzsimmons and Rita Rose, and brother of the late Jim and Edna Fitzsimmons, Myrtle Cardoza, Grace Casperson and Ann Scanlon. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Please omit flowers.
