HARRISON BOREK, GLORIA, ANN(ABRAMS), 69, of Angell Ave., North Providence, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at home after a long illness. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late George and Julia (Shaheen) Abrams.
Gloria worked as a hairdresser for the former Cherry & Webb in Providence. She then became a social worker at the Da Vinci Center in Providence for over 20 years. She was a strong advocate for the mentally and physically challenged and was elected as a delegate to the 1968 Democratic National Convention.She loved to write music, including the song, “You’re My Grandchild”, which gained local acclaim.
She leaves a son, Norman Harrison, Jr. of North Providence; a daughter, Deborah Harrison of Norton, MA; a brother, George Abrams; a sister, Helen Lester, and two grandchildren, Tauri and Derek Harrison. She was the sister of the late Joseph and Edward Abrams.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Raymond Church, North Main St, Providence.
