NOTARANTONIO, Guy Anthony, 70, of Lexington Ave., died Wednesday unexpectedly at RI Hospital.

A lifelong resident of North Providence, Anthony, as he was known, was the son of the late Gaetano (Guy) and Grace (Venagro) Notarantonio.

He was a graduate of North Providence High School, attended Rennselaer Polytecnic Institute in Troy , NY and graduated from Boston University where he studied language arts. During his lifetime he wrote numerous novels and screenplays. He served two years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Notarantonio family which owned and operated Notarantonio Ford on Mineral Spring Ave. for many years.

Mr. Notarantonio is survived by two sisters, Ann M. Maggiacomo of Lincoln and Grace E. Pantano of Plymouth, MA. He was affectionately referred to as “Uncle Sam” by five nieces and three nephews, a high school nickname which stayed with him throughout the years, and also survived by many great-nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 am from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Ave., Providence. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITING HOURS: Friday 5-8 pm.
