Irving X. Gorman, 93, of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Castellana) Gorman. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice (Moran) Gorman.
Irving was an electrical engineer for New England Gas & Electric & Eversource Energy for many years before retiring. A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War era, he also served in the Navy Reserves from 1956- 1983, retiring as a Captain. He graduated from Providence College with a degree in political science and The University of Rhode Island with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Navy League of the United States, The Wardroom Club and The Mass Military Historical Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John M. Gorman; his daughter-in-law Colleen Gorman; a sister, Carolyn Gorman; his two grandchildren, Irving and Carmelina Gorman; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Beverly Rossi.
Visitation will be held on Friday Morning, September 29, 2023 from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Raymond Church, North Main St., Providence. Interment will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irving’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
