JAMES J. HIGHAM, 78, of North Providence, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley (Mann) Higham and the late Ernestina “Esther” (Quattrucci) Higham. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy (Cooper) Higham.
Mr. Higham worked for the City of Providence Water Supply Board, before retiring. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local 1033.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Ernest “Ernie” Higham of Manassas, VA; two daughters, Angela Descoteaux and Elizabeth Randle and her husband Jonathan; three sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Garrin, Jean Mulholland and Catherine Cioli; seven grandchildren, James Higham, Jennifer Brinkley, Jessica Higham, Elizabeth Descoteaux, Arianna Higham, Hunter Randle and Mason Randle; and one great granddaughter, Summer Higham. He was the brother of the late Barbara Damiano.
His funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
