James N.Adamo “Mimi” , 76, of Johnston, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Hilda (Mallozzi) Adamo. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Nicholas Adamo and Anna (DiOrio) Alger.
James had worked as a cabinet maker. He was a former Welterweight Champion of New England. An Army Veteran, he served during the Korean War.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves two sons, Walter Adamo and Antonio Adamo; five daughters, Anna Sirago, Kathy Gemma, Louisa Girardi, Bernadette Saccoccio and Lori Adamo; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Steven and Seth Adamo and the brother of the late Fred and Nicholas Adamo.
His funeral will held Thursday at 10am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd, Johnston. VISITATION Wednesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
