John D. Melino, 79, of Providence, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Viti) Melino. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vito and Netha (Verrecchia) Melino.
John had been Union President of Local 66 of the United Rubber Workers and Local 1211 of the Maintenance and Custodial Workers of the Providence School Dept.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, John D. Melino and Dan J. Melino; a daughter, Donna L. Palmer; a sister, Concetta Ball; 15 grandchildren and two great grandsons. He was the father of the late Dino J. Melino.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. VISITATION Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
