John DiLorenzo, 97, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Fiorita (Chiodo) DiLorenzo. He is survived by his daughter, Lori DiLorenzo; son, John DiLorenzo and his wife Marisa, all from North Providence. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Rose (D’Alessandro) Almagno and brother of the late Lucy and Rita Almagno.
In his early years, John was a carpenter before being employed at Ciba-Geigy Chemical Company. Then he became a self-employed textile repairman throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. John was also employed part-time by the Diocese of Providence, at St. John Vianney Residence for retired priests and St. Vincent de Paul Infant Home as a maintenance/repairman for close to 50 years, before retiring at age 90.
John was a man of great faith and intelligence. He was a very knowledgeable handy-man and was always willing to help family and friends fix anything that needed repair. He was a very understanding, caring, encouraging, patient man that everyone loved having a conversation with. He was known for his sense of humor and always had a positive outlook on life. John was full of wisdom and was truly an inspiration to his family, friends and doctors. He was a strong optimist and a great achiever who always felt that life is what you make of it, so make the most of it and appreciate every day and everything you have.
John was a wonderful, loving father that you could always count on for advice. He enjoyed quahogging on his son’s boat on weekends and enjoyed going to the casinos, especially Foxwoods Casino with his daughter. He also enjoyed going on vacations with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed as a dad, advisor, friend and great teacher.
