John F. Vaillancourt, II, 61, Ret. NPFD, beloved son of Frances M. (Hamilton) Vaillancourt and the late John F. Vaillancourt, Ret. NPPD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after a brief illness.
John started as a volunteer firefighter in the Marieville section of North Providence and went on to a successful full-time career spanning over 20 years. He was passionate about his job and was proud to have the opportunity to help many residents in his community. He loved his family unconditionally and was always there for them. Anyone who knew John knows he had a heart of gold.
John loved to play golf, even though he said he wasn't great! For many years, he volunteered at the CVS National Golf Tournament, where he met some of his favorite players. John loved riding his motorcycle for many years, especially an unforgettable cross-country ride with some great friends. He also loved working on his home and in his yard, often side by side with his dad. He will be sorely missed.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his beloved dog, Brutus; his sisters, Karen F. Vaillancourt, Sheila F. Vaillancourt and Kristen F. Orrall (Karl); a brother, Steven F. Vaillancourt; a niece, Caitlin R. DeResta; nephews Ryan N. DeResta, Konnor and Kolin Orrall, as well as his aunt, Claire (Vaillancourt) Bartlett and many cousins.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11 AM in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St, North Providence. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Ave, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Tuesday, 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the Special Signal Fire Association, PO Box 25009, Providence, RI 02905.
