Joseph DeAngelis, 80, of North Providence, a generous, kind and loving man, adored by his family and friends, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Justine (Capaldi) DeAngelis and was blessed with three children, Nancy Tullie, Joseph J. DeAngelis Esq. and Lynda Lisker and six grandchildren, Meghann Tullie, Samantha Lisker, Hannah Lisker, Julia DeAngelis, Eliza DeAngelis and Benjamin DeAngelis. Born in Providence on January 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Concetta (Santillo) DeAngelis. He was the brother of the late Walter DeAngelis, Flora Miniscalco, Irene D’Iorio and Lidia Gentile.
Upon graduating Bryant College in 1957, Joe opened an accounting office and in 1961 founded DeAngelis Building Company, Inc. which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1990. He was a coach for N.P.W. Little League and was a partner in the former North Providence Hockey Rink where he also coached. He enjoyed golf, music and watching all sports. He loved animals, especially his grand-pets, Raggz, Lola and Raggsie. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Woonasquatucket Ave., North Providence. Visitation Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Rhode Island Shriners, 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston, RI 02905.
