Joseph Martino, 86, of North Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston. He was the beloved husband of Laura (Montella) Martino. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Genovina (Manocchia) Martino.
Joseph had owned and operated Fain Leather Co. and Property Rentals, both of Providence, for 37 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the National Association of Wholesalers and the Shoe Service Institute of America and was an avid coin collector. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Church and was a loving husband and father and a devoted grandfather.
Besides his wife of 53 years, he leaves a daughter, Lora Pizzi and her husband Stephen; a sister, Amelia “Molly” Fraioli and two grandchildren, Tara and Stephen Pizzi. He was the brother of the late Americo Martino, Nancy Simonelli and Angie Martino.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. VISITATION Sunday 4-7pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
