Josephine Buccini passed away on May 6th at Cra-Mar Meadows, she was 97 years old. Josephine was born on January 15, 1926, in Campagnolo, Italy to the late Emilio and Anna Maria (Cherella) De Iorio. She was the wife of the late Joseph Buccini and Elia Lepore. She leaves behind her loving sister Adele and brother-in-law Raymond. She was predeceased by her cherished daughter Eva Lepore, brother Alfredo De Iorio and his wife Leonilda along with his sister Concetta Dizazzo and her husband Lidio. Josephine also leaves behind her dear nieces Cheryl Turchetta, Annmarie Dalo, Lilliana Mastroanni along with her nephew Raymond Gelsomino.
Josephine had a passion for food and loved cooking for her family. Before coming to America, she worked as an executive chef for the American embassy in Italy, Germany and France. In 1967 she moved from Italy to Providence, eventually she worked as Mayor Buddy Cianci's personal chef. Later on, Josephine retired from Taco Heaters.
Josephine loved traveling to Italy and West Palm Beach, Florida with her friend Angelo Gallo. They both enjoyed each other's company for many years. She also loved to sing and dance; in her leisure time she enjoyed knitting.
Josephine led a full and happy life; she will be truly missed.
Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Cra-Mar Meadows and Continuum Care Hospice for their compassion and kindness they showed Josephine.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church located at
645 Hartford Ave. Providence RI on Thursday May 11, 2023 at 10am, followed by a graveside service in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
