Joyce Rizzo

Joyce E. (Ritz) Rizzo, 83, of West Warwick, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John (Rizzo) Ritz and the late Ida (Vescuso) Ritz.

Joyce was employed by the University of Rhode Island for 18 years before retiring. She was a devout catholic her entire life and was proud of her Italian heritage. Joyce traveled to Italy many times throughout her life. 

She leaves a daughter, Melissa DeAugustinis and her husband Jay, two sisters, Lois Tanner and Angela Rossi, three grandchildren, plus several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home 1381 Smith St., North Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
