Laura A.G. Sherlock (Gattegno), 69, of Johnston, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Sherlock. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Doris (Binns) Gattegno.
Laura spent her professional life working in Office Management first at Travelers Insurance; Mass Mutal and later at Met-Life Insurance before retiring several years ago.
Laura could often be found disappearing into a book, with a special preference for biographies and Debbie Macomber books. Laura loved a happy ending in her books just as much as she loved a happy ending for her loved ones.
She could be found weekly at the Johnston Senior Center, playing a competitive game of bingo or cruising the backroads of Johnston with contraband chocolate munchkins from Dunkin Donuts with her friends.
In her passing she leaves behind not only loved ones of human persuasion but of a four-legged kind as well. Laura leaves behind Angel, her devoted bichon-frise mix as well as her grand-puppy Prudence the Great.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mac Kenzie Sherlock, and a son, Derek Sherlock: both currently residing in Johnston. She was the sister of the late Lawrence Gattegno.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, February 21, 2025, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave, Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours are Thursday, February 20, 2025, 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
