Lauren Lee Leonard, 69, of Riverside, RI, passed away peacefully at The Warren Center, while listening to Beatles music on Sept. 22, 2022. She shed a tear for those she left behind. Born in Cambridge, Maryland and having lived in Solana Beach, California and Barrington, RI. Lauren was the loving wife of Lori Dahlberg and youngest child of the late Page (Hubbard) and J. Edson Leonard. She was the sister of Eric Leonard of Riverside and the late Jack Leonard of Barrington.
Lauren was a warm, curious, loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife and friend to many. She touched many lives with her beautiful spirit.
She leaves behind two stepdaughters, Arika and Mackenzie Warren, that she loved like her own, and two nephews, Skye the dog and Midnight the cat. Lauren never met a dog she didn't like, and vice versa.
Lauren graduated from Barrington High School. Lauren started her career in banking, then onto IT sales and support and finally report writing, ending at UNFI in Providence.
Lauren participated in the Rotary and was a selectman for the town of Seekonk. She was an outspoken member of the AA community with 36 years of sobriety, where she performed service with her fellows, and made many lifelong friends. They are brothers and sisters in solidarity carrying the message forward, to help those in need that are willing. Lauren was known for her sage advice and loving support for so many.
Lauren was a lifelong music lover, playing piano, guitar and the ukulele. Along with her lifelong musical partner Kathy Moore, Jean Clapp, and Cat Conley, Lauren created the Defrosters rock and roll band. They performed for over ten years having concerts to raise money for various charities. Madge and Mabel did it best.
Lauren's journey with brain cancer was not unlike any of her other journeys through life where she was fascinated with everything that transpired and faced it with her indominable sense of humor and courage. Even then, she touched many lives with her warm sense of curiosity, humor and love. It was, "a good day to have brain surgery!"
She will be missed by many. She was a fierce member of the human race, always living life to the fullest, reaching so many with the right thing to say.
Her guitar sings softly now, slowly, till the end, while we weep.
Lauren's life will be celebrated on:
Oct. 29, 2022 at the Barrington Congregational Church Fellowship Hall
from 2:00 - 4:00PM
