Leroy A. Wells, Jr., 81, of Johnston, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at home. He was the husband of the late Rita M. (Lemoi) Wells. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Leroy Wells, Sr. and Mary (Chadwick) Wells.
Leroy was a retired Railroad Clerk, a Korean War Army Veteran and a member of the RI National Guard.
He leaves a son, Councilman Joseph A. Wells of Johnston and his wife, Karen, two step-daughters, Claire R. McWilliams and Cecile C. Carlozzi; two step-sons, Richard H. and Ronald E. Rathbun; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Rusty Marcinko and May Frye.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Atwood Ave., Johnston. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Closet, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.
