Margarida C.R. Amaral

Margarida C.R. Amaral, 72, of Providence, made her final voyage to Jesus in Heaven on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, after passing away peacefully at home in the arms of her husband. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Nicolau R. Amaral for 50 years. Born in San Miguel, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Virginio and Irene (Couto) Rodrigues.

Margarida was an educator for the Cumberland School Department for many years before retiring. A faithful Catholic, she was a devoted parishioner of St. Pius V Church for over 31 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two brothers, Rev. Joao Luciano C. Rodrigues and Jose Julio Couto Rodrigues; three sisters, Mariana R. Almeida de Eca, Herminia Sampaio Raposo and Zita R. Figueiredo; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Virginio C. Rodrigues.

Visitation will be held on Saturday Morning, October 2, 2021 from 8:30 - 10:15 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton St., Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margarida's memory may be made to: Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
