Maria Y. Zuccolo

Maria Y. Zuccolo (Savastano), 81, of Providence, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugo Zuccolo. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Maria (DeAngelis) Savastano. She grew up in Italy before returning to Providence in 1947.

Maria worked in the clothing industry as a seamstress for various manufacturers and stores in Providence. She was known for her inner strength, gentle ways and great culinary skills, but most of all for her love of life and family. A woman of true style, grace and elegance, she will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves her two sons, Hugo E. Zuccolo and his wife Denise and Joseph A. Zuccolo and his wife Karen; four brothers, Salvatore, Frank, John and Louis Savastano; two sisters, Antonetta Marzilli and Angela D’Ambra and two grandchildren, Giovanni and Gabriela Zuccolo. She was the sister of the late Josephine Miele.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10am in Holy Ghost Church, Knight St., Providence. Entombment will follow in Our Risen Christ Mausoleum, St Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. Arrangements by Maceroni Funeral Home.
