Marilyn J. Grossi (Sonner), 78, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Thomas Grossi for 58 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Jeannette (Mailhot) Sonner. She was a resident of North Providence, wintered in Lake Worth, Florida and had summered at her beach house in Matunuck.
She had worked as a supervisor for the New England Telephone Company for 28 years, was an organizer of the Womens Auxillary of the North Providence Little League, a former president of the Marieville School P.T.A. and had worked for the democratic party. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, traveling, golfing and cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events.

Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Gary T. Grossi and his wife Kim; three daughters, Linda L. Grossi-Mazzeo, Carol A. Lombardi and her husband David, and Maryann Grossi-Ricci; a brother William “Bill” Sonner; a sister, Mildred Langborg; eight grandchildren, Anthony Mazzeo, Jr., Tanya Mazzeo, Farrah Pazienza, Jarad Grossi, Jeremy Grossi, Tori Ricci, Thomas Ricci and Derrick Lombardi and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late George Sonner.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 AM from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Visitation Tuesday 4-7 PM. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish, 757 Park Ave., Cranston, RI 02910.
