Mary Civita Petreccia, 96, of Providence passed away peacefully in her home that she lived in for 63 years on Saturday, December 8, 2007. Her family was by her side through her journey. Mary was a Seamstress for 40 years until her retirement at the age of 80.
Born February 17, 1911 in Lawrence Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Nicola Petreccia and Ersilia (Fuoco) Petreccia. She was the sister of the late Vincent H. Petreccia, Sr. and Anna Marcone.
Mary leaves behind one brother Louis G. Petreccia and four sisters Carmella Vellucci, Rose Fitzsimmons, Angelina Kiley and Antonetta Gill. Mary’s life work also included an appointed position as Treasurer for the Loggia Gloria for 35 years. She was also a Life member of the San Ambrogio Society in Rhode Island.
Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church of Providence all her life.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9am from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Brayton Ave., Providence. Visitation Tuesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
