Matilda "Millie" Wassman

Matilda “Millie” (Pellegrino) Wassman, 97, formerly of Providence and Palm City, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Luciano and Maria (Companatico) Pellegrino. She was married to her beloved late husband John Wassman for 66 years.

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Millie lived her life steeped in Italian tradition cooking up amazing Sunday dinners every week with her family seated around her table. She lived for her family and took care of everyone before herself. She loved eating her pastries and sweets. She was also a devoted fan of Days of Our Lives.

Millie lived in Providence most of her life before moving to Palm City, FL at the age of 80 where she was able to live happily for 11 years with her husband John. Millie worked for the City of Providence for many years before retiring.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Marilynn Conca, and Patricia Zingale and her husband Philip; two cherished grandchildren, John Conca and his fiancée Kelley and Michael Zingale and his wife Courtney; and three treasured great-grandchildren, Jordan Conca, Gianna Zingale and Ava Zingale. She was the mother-in-law of the late Edward Conca and sister of the late Alexander and Gennaro Pellegrino.

Visitation will be held on Saturday Morning, August 24, 2024 from 8:15 – 9:15 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
