Nancy M. Penza, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Raymond W. Penza for 56 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert G. Murphy and Elizabeth (Walsh) Murphy.
Nancy was a devoted educator, beginning her career as a librarian at Lincoln School for Girls. She would later serve as Principal at Veazie Street School in Providence and Nayatt Elementary School in Barrington, before retiring.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Ret. Col. Robert Murphy and his wife Joyce (Iannuccillo) Murphy; and her two nieces, Pamela Merritt and Kristin Lisenby. She was the mother of the late Jason C. Penza.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Ave. Providence. Burial will be private, and visitation is respectfully omitted.
