Nicholas Anthony Piti, 80, of Venice, Florida, passed away on June 20, 2024, after a prolonged illness. He was the son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Barresi) Piti.
Nick was born in Providence, Rhode Island and enlisted in the US Army from 1961-1965, following his father and Uncle Nate. He was stationed in Southeast Asia from 1962-1964. As a communications soldier, he spent many months Laos and Thailand. Upon being Honorably Discharged, Nick returned home and entered a sprinkler fitter apprentice program for UA of Southern New England and became a journeyman sprinkler fitter for Boston Local 550 until his retirement in 2004.
Nick loved working in the fire protection trade and was a proud member of Local 550. His other love was playing golf. Having started at age 13, Nick was an avid golfer until shortly before his passing. Two of his highlights were 2 holes in one, coming in his forties and fifties.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, North Providence, Rhode Island; Venice Florida Moose; and the American Legion, Venice, Florida.
He is survived by his children, Nicholas Anthony Piti ll and Christine Lee Piti; Arlene DiRobbio his partner of 26 years and caregiver, his sister, Georgina Ferraro; his beloved furry companion, Beau, whom he loved with all his heart. He was also the brother of the late Gloria Sciarra and Joseph Piti.
Nick will be remembered for his infectious smile, hearty laugh, and love of people and life itself. He will be missed by many friends as well as his family.
His funeral will be held Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10 AM from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial with military honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2-5 PM.
